Year of Bond
2008 marks the centenary of the birth of Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond. To mark Fleming's contribution to British culture and celebrate his life and work, various events are planned throughout the year. Ian Fleming was born on May 28th 1908 in London.

IAN FLEMING CENTENARY
There are two event taking place in 2008 which officially commemorate the hundred years that have passed since Ian Fleming's birth on May 28th 1908.
New Bond Novel
May 2008 Sebastian Faulks was announced last year to be
the author of the brand new officially endorsed James Bond novel. The British
writer - whose books include Birdsong and Charlotte Gray - was commissioned by
the Fleming estate in 2006 but his identity was kept secret. It is not yet
known if the new book will be turned into a Bond film.

Imperial War Museum Exhibition
April 2008 - March 2009 London's Imperial War Museum is producing the first major exhibition devoted to the life and work of the man who created the world's most famous secret agent. This first-ever retrospective of Fleming's life will open on the 17th April 2008 and is called ‘For Your Eyes Only: Ian Fleming And James Bond'.
The exhibition will showcase all manner of Bond and Fleming related items including notes by the writer, prototypes of the flick-knife shoes worn by Rosa Klebb and Halle Berry's bikini from 2002's Die Another Day.

New Bond Film
Not officially part of the Centenary celebrations, the new Bond Film ‘Quantum of Solace' starring Daniel Craig is set to be released on 31st October.
