Super Siena...
Italy's ‘surprising' Euro star
A stunning medieval city in the heart of Tuscany, Italy has emerged as a top tourism destination...

In a recent study by travel website TripAdvisor, the Tuscan city of Siena came 5th in a list of 25 most popular European destinations.

The figures show that during the high season, the average room occupation rates for Siena hotels are 68.5%, in comparison to a national average of 67.1%.

The figures also show that Siena is consistently above the national average during the high season. Even during September, hotel occupation rates are often as high as 81.8%.

This is an excellent result considering Siena does not have its own airport and it is not on a major railway line. And when it comes to hotel occupation during the summer months, Siena beat Milan, Rome and popular beach destinations like Rimini

The average cost of rooms in the city of Siena is very low compared to other cities and almost comes in lower than the national average.

According to Italy Magazine, the figures ‘contradict the common opinion of Siena residents that think their tourism is too expensive, since the city actually manages to bring comfort and economy together'.

Siena is at the heart of Tuscany which is World renowned for its stunning scenery and picturesque medieval towns of which Siena is one of the finest examples. The city itself and the beutiful surrounding countryside is steeped in history and Italian tradition making Tuscany one of Europe's most popular destinations.
